Chamber Orchestra
Sul Ponticello in Decatur

"Sul Ponticello is a musical term for string instruments meaning "near the bridge". Decatur, alternatively called "The River City" has a downtown area situated close to the Tennessee River, which is spanned by two traffic bridges and a not too distant railway bridge. Hence, "orchestra near the bridge". Decatur is a city creating a new face in these changing times and with the addition of significant new buildings dedicated to the Arts in the downtown core, it appears that one aspect of that renewed face encompasses the Arts. The time is right to build what has been a missing part of musical life in Decatur and that is the impetus behind "Orchestra Sul Ponticello" (About Us, 2017).
